Shamanic healing isn’t just for wafty hippies…..

For over 100,000 years, Shamans around the world have used Shamanic meditation as part of healing. They have been perfecting the art of traveling in consciousness to other levels of reality, gaining access to information that can seem quite extraordinary about how to treat and prevent disease, avoid negative situations, clear family issues and plan for our future.

Margaret loved her new animal ally but was a bit nervous as to if it would fit in the car.

I don’t pretend to be a Shaman – I’m a white middled aged women from the Midlands! -however I have experienced, used and trained in techniques including Shamanic journeying, soul retrieval, ceremony, the medicine wheel and the star maiden’s circle to understand and heal for over 20 yrs.

I trained with Eagles wing centre for contemporary Shamanism: and Medicine woman, medicine ways:

Shamanic journeying/meditation.

Shamanic Journeying has been used in many indigenous cultures as a way of meditating, relaxing, communicating, healing, holding ceremony and journeying into our inner landscape/consciousness for guidance, inspiration and healing.

The monotonous drum beat creates a change in consciousness from our normal awake alpha-brain-wave-state, to the dream awake alpha theta state.

However unlike daydreaming, this dream awake state is more like the twilight space just before you are fully awake, where you are awake and are aware of all going on around you but you are in an altered state of consciousness/dreaming.

In this state we can ask for guidance, receive healing, meet allies or helping guides, or just rest, relax and listen to the drum, which in its self is healing

When you come to see me I will listen to what it is you need. We will make an intention for your journey and I will explain how the drumming for the journey will send you off and call you back. Then we will open up a sacred space calling in ‘spirit’ – the creative source of the universe – our allies and ancestors who love us. You will then find a comfortable position, standing, sitting or lying (I have lots of cosy blankets and eye masks) and I will begin drumming.

We focus on what you need for your well-being. I might suggest some activities outside of our session, which might involve you going into nature, finding quiet inside and listening for guidance. Mainly I’m just a guide for what it is you need.

I believe happiness and joy finds its way into our being when we reconnect with our true nature and stop repeating the same old story over and over again. This is when we start living with choice and purpose instead of reacting and numbing the pain. Shamanic techniques can be helpful, especially when used in conjunction with Homeopathy.

Here’s and example of the drumming we may use.
